Cyprus is still divided and there are no direct flights from Europe to Ercan Airport in North Cyprus. Nevertheless, due to this reason, Northern Cyprus is unspoilt and very beautiful. It is not commercialised much, there is no mass tourism and may be the best of all, the beaches are not crowded!

In December 2006, Mr. Tony Blair promised to investigate the possibility of starting direct flights from UK to Ercan Airport - so we, the Turkish Cypriots, are waiting! If you are a British citizen or resident, please sign here for direct flights to Ercan, North Cyprus.

You basically have two choices!

1) Fly into Larnaca Airport in South Cyprus. This is shorter flight and you have a wide choice of flights. The flights are cheaper but there is 1 hour taxi transfer from Larnaca Airport to North Cyprus which costs around £40 one way.

2) Fly into Ercan Airport in North Cyprus via Turkey. There is a 1 hour stop-over in Turkey where you stay inside the flight. The total flight time is longer and you have limited choice of flights. Nevertheless, the taxi airport transfer to your hotel or villa in North Cyprus is much easier and convenient.

Car Hire at Larnaca Airport
If you are hiring a car to be delivered to Larnaca Airport, you will need to purchase a seperate insurance the North Cyprus border, because there is no insurance company in the South that insures for accidents in the North. The insurance costs around £10 for 2 weeks. Please be aware that not all companies allow their cars to be passed to North Cyprus. We recommend this car hire company.
